Saturday's Super Six

Hello again everyone...I apologize for the lateness of Friday's Five Fave...again

...WHAT?!? You're still here!!! Yippeee!!! AND you forgive me? Awww, gee, thanks! Its the LAST time, I promise, and you'll see why on this Special Edition of "Friday's Fave Five: the Bonus Day!"

Saturday's Super Six
  1. Wild Blue Internet!!! Ours was installed this morning, but I haven't been on until tonight because...
  2. Friends who will help you tear down your old house and salvage any worthwhile materials, even if that endeavor includes climbing on a dangerous roof to do so.
  3. Strong, confident female friends who will help you catch the sheet steel as it comes off the roof without being afraid it might slip and cut their hand or their scalp OR that they might break a nail.
  4. Chester Fried Chicken Tenders and Potato Wedges...I don't know if they have these outside of Maine but they put KFC all to shame! A yummy meal in the car listening to Christian Family Network on the satellite radio and no cooking or cleaning up when we got home at the end of a pretty long day.
  5. Acing my Biology course and it's lab component. I love learning but biology didn't always grab me. Being able to learn in a Christian environment and share my beliefs about creationism and why I don't believe in evolution made a TREMENDOUS difference all the way around this time and I loved this class!
  6. The love of a big hearted, God lovin' and fearin', wise, beautiful (yes, I said beautiful) family oriented man.
See you all in a couple days after we have gotten the most of the demo/salvage done.
God bless, have a terrific Sunday and remember the words of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young:

"Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picked, the one you'll know by.

Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you."

Friday's Fave Five July 23, 2010

Hello and welcome back to the farmhouse! Today's Fave Five is going to cause laughs, I guarantee it!

  • A high pain threshold.  I got new Nikes yesterday...the first name brand pair of sneakers I have had since I was living at home and I got a checkerboard Chuck Taylor Converse high-tops...I have blisters the size of quarters on my heels from walking to town this morning...I left home at 6:26 and got to the Rite Aid minutes after they opened at 8:00...a not intended stop to buy some Dr. Scholl's blister pads...which then leads me to my next Fave:
  • God's provision, once again. I needed to get out of the house today and do something actually constructive. I went into The Big City of N*****t with my hubby three days this week but I didn't really get much done. The library there charges $.50 PER PAGE, black and white, to print anything...and they don't allow the use of flash drives for working on documents, even for college students, so I didn't get a lot done except...drum roll, please:
  • Electronic paperwork for MY NEW JOB!! I am working for ASM as a food demonstrator at the local Shaw's, the Bangor Shaw's, and the Walmart Supercenters in Bangor, Brewer, and Newport. If you live in any of these areas, keep an eye out for me, you just might see me. My hiring bonus got me...
  • My iPod Touch 4th Generation...and I am having LOADS of fun with it...the only thing now is that I will have to buy the 12v charger for in the car because I can't run the computer to charge it twice a day, lol! If you have been thinking of getting one of these, I highly recommend it. The Apps are amazing, the content available is unbelievable, and its FUN!
  • Finally, a terrific local library with an amazing staff. Yesterday morning the librarian GAVE me, for keeps, two books that I have checked out and renewed so many times because they received donations of the same titles (I got the new ones =] ) which are The Firefox Book 1 for back-to-the landers and The Living Simple Guide. I also am in awe of our collection and the ease of inter-library loaning things.
That's it for this week, everyone. Have a blessed weekend and see you next Friday!

Friday's Fave Five July 16th, 2010

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five! Sorry it is late again, I am really thinking of turning this into Saturday's Super Six, lol!

1) Bitty chicks peeping and scratching around the yard behind their momma

2) A rooster who has trained himself to crow at 6:00 am! I don't know how he did it, but he did it. He crows at 6:00 am, on the dot, and not again until the next morning. I love it!

3) My living allowance from college. There are serious changes afoot at Tiny Farm! We are getting the permanent house built up, I am going to be able to get a laptop, finally, and no later than next Wednesday I will telephone service at the house...including DSL!! EEEk, I don't know what to do with myself.

4) The neat little town I live in! I walked to the post office yesterday just before lunchtime, only two miles, and then I stopped at our little family-operated store/restaurant, Trafton's, for lunch and met some really great townspeople and I can honestly say I learned a lot, had a lot of laughs, and made a lot of friends!

5) Towns that have civic pride! Today is A**** Days, a chance to get to know the neighbors and have fun with the carnival games, rides, crafts fair, and tonight there's gonna be fireworks! FIREWORKS!! YIPPEEEEEE!! Okay, now everyone knows I am a pyro and a firework addict...

I am off til next week! Have fun, stay safe, stay cool, stay sane, and keep praisin'!

Friday's Fave Five for July 9, 2010

This week I am REALLY grateful for so very many things I don't know how I will narrow it down to five.

1) God's strength and support! I had to walk 4 miles to the library this morning...yes, one way...and I have yet to head out and walk home again but the amazing thing is that I haven't walked more than one mile roundtrip in eleven years, except for one Wednesday when I was determined not to miss MOPS, but that was back in the early fall!

2) The AC at the library. After reading ^^^ do I need to say more?

3) Ice cold water from the water fountain! Again, see #1 =]

4) Marion Stroud's book Dear God, It's Me and It's Urgent. This book has been a tremendous blessing this morning and promises to be so for a very, very long time.

5) Celtic Woman is coming to MAINE! I have been waiting nearly five years since I first heard them on PBS during a fundraising campaign right before Christmas 2005...my dh came home from work one day last week and asked me "How would you like to see Celtic Woman?" "Yeah, sure, when we win the lotto and can fly to Ireland maybe." Then he pulled out two tickets to their waterfront concert on July 28th! No, we didn't win the lottery but he wanted to do something really special...I guess he knew that he hit the nail on the head when I couldn't do anything except hug him and cry!

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Early and late Editions of Friday's Fave Five

Hello, hello all! I am so sorry but I have been completely out of touch since the 24th of June and here it is the first of July!

Well, to make up for it I am going to post TWO Friday's Fave Fives!

*~~~June 25, 2010~~~*
  • The pretty wildflowers in our meadow! The kids have picked me several pretty bouquets since we got here full of lupines, daisies, black-eyed susans, buttercups, and so many others that I can't name
  • Time with my family
  • The sound of our little brook babbling just out of sight. It makes you just have to walk over and take a peek
  • Soundbirds waking me up instead of traffic
  • S'mores made over a candle with the kids and washed down with hot cocoa
*~~~July 2, 2010~~~*
  • The freedom to create this blog
  • A creator to thank for the men and women who have died so I can do anything I want, within legal and moral reason, and not be penalized
  • Fireworks
  • Barbecue!!!
  • Popsicles shaped like bombs and colored Red, White and Blue! These colors don't run...except on a popsicle
Happy Independence Day Everyone!
God Bless the USA!
